What products do you sell at your website? What are your highest profit margin items? Make a list of the top ones and then head over to Google. Enter the generic name for those items in the search field. Don’t use specific model numbers unless that’s something the average customer would know off the top of their head. OK, did your website show up as the first result on that search? Was it in the top three? Did it make the cut for the first page? If it didn’t show up on the first page, then more than seventy percent of the customers who are looking to buy that item on the internet are choosing to visit your competitors’ websites instead of yours.

Studies show that in excess of seventy percent of search engine users click through to a result they find on the first page, and about 30 percent choose the very first entry. If that’s not your website, not even for your most profitable items, then you’ve got some work to do. The bright side is that once you get started on that work, your sales and your profits should climb right along with your search engine rankings.

What you need to do if your website didn’t rank as well as you’d like for your key products or services, is to enlist the aid of a professional search engine marketer. Search engine marketers will help you increase your search engine results page ranking by optimizing your website for search engines around a handful of the most important search terms for your business. Those search terms should include not only your most highly profitable offerings, but also the most popular products you sell. After all, those are the ones that customers will be searching for most often.

Most SEO marketers will suggest that you start your SEO program with 6-10 key words or phrases for which you want to increase your search engine rankings. There’s no limit, but adding more increases the complexity (and cost) of the SEO campaign. Most companies are better off focusing on ten or fewer search terms to start with. Once they have those rankings where they want them, and can see the effects that increased search engine ranking has on the bottom-line. Then, they can make an informed decision based on the likely ROI for a more comprehensive SEO campaign. In some cases, that might mean segregating product categories into separate websites, each optimized around a select group of goods.

First things first, though. Check all of your current search engine rankings for your top products, or the products you’d like to be your top products. If you’re not happy with your ranking, then you are losing customers to your competition and it’s time to take control of your market share with SEO marketing.

As you should know by now, computer technology is growing at a rapid pace. Computers are everywhere. They are in your home, they are at your work, they are at the Department of Motor Vehicles, and they are even at the grocery store. Every action that can be automated is using some sort of computer control. Many of these controls are standardized, with basic operating systems that are used in several different areas. As computer technology grows into more markets, industries, entertainment venues, and personal uses, the world will see an increased demand for information technology professionals.

According to the Information Technology Society of America (ITAA), information technology is “the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware.” The term is so widely recognized that it has been shortened to the universally recognized “IT.” When somebody tells you that they work in IT, you probably know what they are talking about. IT professionals come in many different flavors. One might be a computer systems analyst, a database administrator, a software designer, a web developer, a computer repair technician, or one of many other professions. Despite the specific job, IT professionals have similar traits. All aspects of working with computer technology require attention to detail, problem solving skills, the ability to multi-task, the ability to work with teams, and the ability to communicate in written and oral formats.

Information technology is not a profession for amateurs. Computers run complex functions at most businesses. When a computer goes down, it can cost a company a lot of money. When a network goes down, it can be catastrophic. IT professionals are expected to be able to find the problem, correct the problem, and make sure that the problem does not happen again, as fast as possible. You cannot just walk in off of the street and expect to get a position in an IT department. You need to have a targeted education. You need to have the necessary skills for the job and have to be well versed on the latest technological trends. The best way to get ready for a career in IT is to attend college.

Depending on the career you want and how fast you want to start working, you can find an education program that will suit you. If you want to learn enough to start work, with the expectation of learning more on the job, you can enroll in a certificate program that will teach you a specific skill. If you want to learn a broad range of skills to make yourself a serious candidate for employment at a large firm, you can enroll in a Bachelor’s degree program. If you are already an IT professional and want to become a recognized expert of a specialized skill, you can go back to school and get a Master’s degree in your chosen discipline.

Information technology is a growing industry. If you want a career that is interesting, has room for advancement, and continues to change, information technology is right for you.

We have all enjoyed listening to music at some point in our lives. For some it is an everyday occurrence, for others only an occasional indulgence. In fact, many of us think of particular songs or musical groups when we think back about different periods in our lives. Music has the power to lift our spirits and set our moods. Harsh or discordant music can also increase stress and fatigue. In fact, one of the main reasons that people stop listening to and enjoying music as they once did, is that they may find themselves growing mentally fatigued after only a short time of listening. This is often a property of the audio reproduction rather than a testament to our advancing age.

When music is tonally unbalanced and contains too high a concentration of treble or high notes, it sounds a little unnatural, and over time becomes fatiguing to the ears. Once this happens, the music just doesn’t sound as good. Instead of soothing it jangles against the nerves. As a result, we tend to turn it off and recall the experience negatively. This tonal unbalance can be a function of poor audio equipment. Often, though, it isn’t a problem with the audio equipment at all, but a function of the room that contains it.

Sound waves interact with the environment in which they travel. The bounce off walls and other hard surfaces in the form of echoes. Large bass tones can fold back upon themselves resulting in an overemphasis of bass or a lack of bass through a process called bass cancellation. Middle and higher frequencies all rebound or echo with differing efficiency depending upon the nature of the surface they collide against. As these unbalanced reflections feed back into the listening area, they combine with the original source sound waves leaving peaks and valleys in the tonal distribution that make the final sounds that are picked up by the ears quite different from the way it was when it left your loudspeakers.

One solution to these room acoustic effects is to use headphones. That’s not practical for most of us, especially if there is more than one person listening. The better solution is to apply room acoustic treatments to absorb the sound waves that strike the walls rather than let them reflect back, uncontrolled into the room. Room acoustic treatments are specially made acoustic panels that can be applied to judiciously around the room. Acoustic room treatments can even be upholstered to match or enhance the room’s décor. Wall panels help with the mid and upper range tones, while bass traps placed in the corners of the room help to control the lower musical tones.

If you feel as if you’ve grown tired of listening to music, the problem might be as easy as putting in some room acoustic treatments. By restoring the tonal balance of your music system, you can once again find the pleasure you once found in your favorite music.

If you are a woman that has ever been in a marriage tainted by infidelity, you have probably experienced the whole gamut of emotions. You probably felt hurt, angry, sad, betrayed, and confused, just to name a few emotions. Having your husband be unfaithful can be one of the most devastating and traumatic things to happen in a marriage. It can make you question everything about yourself, your husband, and your relationship. Once you get over the initial feelings of shock, rage, and betrayal, you will probably find yourself wondering why the affair happened. Below are some top reasons that men cheat on their wives.

As cliché as it may sound, one reason men cheat on their spouses is that they aren’t getting enough intimacy at home. We all have busy lives and sometimes intimacy can be pushed aside due to stress, other priorities, or general tiredness. It is important for men to feel loved and desired just as much as it is for women. Unfortunately many men will look for this love and desire elsewhere if they are not getting it from their wives.

Another reason men cheat is that it is a boost to their egos. Along the lines of not feeling desired at home, men love to feel wanted. If someone outside of his marriage is showing an interest in him, it can be a real boost to a man’s self esteem. While some men may see a flirtation as flattering and nothing more, other men make take that flirtation to the next level and actually participate in an affair.

Sadly, some men cheat on their wives because they do not find their wife attractive anymore. As sexist as it may sound, a woman that “lets herself go” is sending a message to her husband that she does not care if she is appealing to him anymore. It is easy for women to put their family first and forget to take care of themselves. But this behavior may backfire in that one of the people they are trying so hard to take care of may be taking care of himself outside the home.

Another unfortunate reason some men cheat on their wives is simply the thrill of the chase. Some men find pursuing another woman exciting, and that pursuit just usually does not happen in a long term marriage.

If you suspect your husband is cheating on you, the reasons listed above may offer some insight as to why he might do something like be unfaithful. Perhaps the reasons above can help you reflect on your relationship and make some changes. If you simply suspect that your husband is being unfaithful, you should find out for sure for your peace of mind. There are many ways you can find out if your husband is cheating on you. One great way to find out for sure is to hire a private investigator. A private investigator can track your husband and gather evidence either for or against your suspicions of his unfaithfulness.

If you have ever considered a career in the field of engineering, you know that you have a large variety of specialties to choose from. There are at least twenty five recognized fields in the area of engineering including aerospace engineering, architectural engineering, bioengineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, and software engineering. Careers in engineering have a very good economic outlook as well. Engineers are generally highly sought after and they earn salaries in the high to very high range.

Architectural engineering is probably one of the first specialized engineering fields that comes to mind when a person thinks of a career in engineering. While this may be true, many people do not understand exactly what it is that an architectural engineer does. Basically, architectural engineers apply engineering principles to the construction, planning, and design of buildings and other types of structures. Architectural engineering may be somewhat similar to mechanical and civil engineering, however, architectural engineering focuses mainly on buildings and structures. The field of Architectural Engineering often includes areas of other engineering specialties, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and fire protection, just to name a few. The architectural engineers are responsible for the different systems within a building, structure, or complex. These areas include the structural soundness of a building, the design and analysis of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, efficiency and design of the plumbing systems, fire protection and electrical systems, acoustic and lighting planning, and energy conservation issues.

Architectural engineers may work along side other engineers and architects. They may work in office buildings producing plans and systems designs. These documents may be printed on large format printers using rolls of engineering paper. Architectural engineers may also visit other offices to consult on projects with clients or other teams. Other architectural engineers may work directly on job sites. When working on a job site an architectural engineer may oversee various stages of construction and make adjustments to plans and designs as necessary. Some architectural engineers will spend time traveling to different locations so that they may be closer to a project or job site. Architectural engineers generally are scheduled to work a regular forty hour work week, but working nights or weekends may be necessary to meet certain deadlines.

If you are interested in a career in the field of architectural engineering, you will have some fairly rigorous preparation to do. Most architectural engineering programs require a that you have a strong background in the fields of math and science. Courses you should consider taking in high school are algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, biology, chemistry, physics. A bachelors program in architectural engineering will usually take four to five years to complete. The first two years or so of your architectural engineering program, you will be studying basic engineering principals. In the last two years of your architectural engineering program, you will begin to take courses in your area of specialization. You will typically take courses that focus on engineering design, structures, mechanical and electrical systems, and construction management.

Having your dog get away from your home and get lost can be a very devastating and stressful experience. Almost all pet owners know that their dogs should wear a collar and identification tags at all times. Also, if a dog spends time outside, the dog should be in a secured environment that he or she cannot escape from. While almost all pet owners know these rules that does not mean that your dog will never get away from you. You can be the most responsible pet owner in the world and still a pet can manage to escape. If you have lost a dog, follow the tips below to aid in the recovery of your beloved pet.

The first and most important step is start looking for your pet right away. Do not wait around a few hours to see if your pet will come home on his own. As soon as you realize your pet is missing, begin your search and get the word out to friends and neighbors so they may keep an eye out for your dog as well.

Make posters to post around your neighborhood or the area your dog was lost. The posters should include basic information, and make sure you write large and legibly. You should include a very brief description of what your pet looks like, where he or she was last seen, and your telephone number. If you would like to photocopy a picture of your pet onto the poster, that would be helpful as well. You might also want to mention that you are offering a reward for the safe return of your pet if you are willing to do so. Most people will refuse a reward when returning a pet anyway.

Make index card sized prints of the same information you included on the poster mentioned above. You can drop these small prints off in neighbor’s mailboxes or place them under your neighbor’s car wind shield wipers. You should also considering putting a “lost pet” announcement in your local paper. Most local papers will print these types of announcements for free. Remember, the more people that know about your lost pet, the more chance you have of someone finding your pet.

Call all of your local veterinary clinics, animal hospitals, animal shelters, or city animal control offices. Some people who find a lost pet will not bother trying to contact the owner, rather they will drop the pet off at one of these places. You may even try calling local pet stores, local kennels, and area pet grooming facilities. You may want to visit these places personally and ask if you could leave an index card print of your lost pet information on a bulletin board at their place of business.

The last tip here is also very important: do not give up. Pets can travel a lot farther than we might think and they can survive a lot longer on their own than you might imagine. If your pet is lost, he or she may be very scared, so keep looking. You pet may be too frightened to approach a person and thus get himself or herself rescued.

The mattress is the most important piece of furniture in your home. This item gets more hours of use than any other furniture you own. A regular person spends approximately 1/3 of their life in bed. The mattress also contributes directly to your health and well being by providing you a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere in which to get the proper amount of sleep. The effects of poor sleeping habits can affect memory, cognitive skills, digestion, bone health and many other functions. A bad mattress can contribute to these problems by robbing you of valuable sleep. On the other hand, a good mattress can be an invaluable tool to better sleep. It is imperative to make sure you have a good mattress that fulfills your individual needs.

If you are always tired in the morning or feel like you need a nap in the middle of the day, you are clearly not getting enough good sleep during the night. This is usually a good sign that you might need a new mattress. There are many other factors in sleep problems, but this is one that you might be able to fix quickly and easily. If you have recently had an excellent night’s sleep and realize it was somewhere other than your own bed, it is time to investigate your mattress.

As a typical rule of thumb, if your mattress is more than 10 years old it probably needs replacing. Your current mattress should be replaced if a noticeable dent has developed in the section where you usually sleep. If sagging across the mattress causes you to roll toward your partner, this is a bad sign as well. If there are lumps, sagging or exposed interior this is an indication of breakdown in certain parts of the mattress inner fillings and springs. Mattresses should not make creaking noises at all when you sit or lay on them. This can mean that the springs in the interior of the mattress are wearing out. If you wake up sore or stiff in the morning or have developed recurring back pain, it could also be a problem of your mattress. It could mean that your back and spine are simply not getting enough support and time to recover during the night.

Some people also do not know how to dispose of their old sleep set when they do decide to purchase a new one. Old mattresses are found in the strangest places including lakes, forests and the side of the road. It is necessary to properly dispose of your mattress and box springs. The first option is to ask the store where you are purchasing your new set if they offer a program to take the old one. If not, your local garbage collection service might offer a program for picking up large items on certain days.

Bottom line, your health and your partner’s health depend on the quality of your mattress. You deserve a good mattress and a good night’s sleep.

An automated teller machine (ATM) is a computerized system used to deposit and withdraw money without the need for another person, such as a teller. Most banks provide this service to their customers as a way to deposit or withdraw money into their own individual checking and savings account when the bank is not open. However, now ATM machines are located everywhere – grocery stores, movie theaters and restaurants. This allows someone to gain access to cash without even going to the bank.

An ATM machine is basically a large computer that works like a vending machine for money. In order to provide all the services it does, it has many different parts. The computer inside has an interface and keypad. This keypad is how the customer provides information regarding PIN numbers and amounts to the computer. It also includes a magnetic card reader to read information from each individual ATM card. This information includes the person’s name, bank account information including routing and account numbers. When a person inserts their ATM card, the machines reads it and returns it after the transaction is complete. If you forget to take your ATM card out of the machine, it will retract it so that the next person cannot have access to it.

Inside the ATM is a cash drawer that has to be refilled and counted by an employee each day. For instance, if the machine runs out of $10 bills it will simply not allow any more $10 transactions so the bank wants to keep it fully functional by checking the bills and balancing the machine at least once a day. There is also a printer that will give the customer a receipt of their transaction, usually on thermal paper. This receipt will include balance information, fees access and details of the specific transaction. Some ATM’s also provide envelopes for your cash and/or receipt. Many ATM companies are now installing security cameras to have a record of the person conducting each transaction. This also helps prevent against theft of the machine.

In order to access accounts, the computers inside ATM machines are connected to a complex interbank network. This network will allow customers from many different banks to access accounts through this machine even if it’s not at their bank. ATM’s must gain permission from a person’s bank through this network to allow them to withdraw money from their account. When the transaction is complete the bank then relays the information back to the customers bank so they can reflect the appropriate addition or subtraction of money to the correct account.

ATM machines located at a branch of your bank are usually free to customers, however independent ATM’s must charge a fee to customers to cover costs of operations, employee labor to maintain the machine and fees to use the interbank network. These fees can range from .75 cents to 2 dollars! Most ATM’s will give you an opportunity to cancel the transaction if you don’t agree with the fee amount.

It doesn’t seem all that long ago that we felt safe leaving our doors unlocked while we were gone to work, puttering around the house and even while we slept. Today an unlocked door is deemed to be an invitation to a burglar, rapist or murderer to enter the home and commit crimes. Some criminals are not easily deterred and simply locking a door will not keep them out. The best protection possible for your family and home is to install a home security system.

There are numerous types of home security set ups from which to choose; wireless, hard-wired, CCTV, alarms, digital, analog and various others. If you are interested in watching what is going on inside your home while you are gone, CCTV (Closed Circuit TV) is a home security option. Basically CCTV security is a system that utilizes surveillance cameras; these cameras feed signals to a specified monitor or to your PC.

CCTV has long been in use in banks, gas stations, government facilities and malls. As CCTV technology has become more user-friendly and less expensive, people are turning to CCTV for their homes. A CCTV system requires few components; a camera, a lens and a monitor. Hard-wired systems require coaxial cable to feed the signals from the camera to the monitor; wireless systems require no cable. The monitor type is dependent on whether the camera signals are digital or analog; for an analog camera the monitor would need to be an analog TV, whereas digital systems use computers as the monitor.

If merely watching what is happening at home is not enough, add recording capability to your CCTV home security system. For an analog system you would need a VCR video recorder and for digital systems a DVR (digital video recorder) is required. The DVR can actually replace a monitor and act as the signal receiver since most DVR’s are capable of performing the same tasks as a computer (receive, record and store data for later review).

The current economic conditions have led to increased crime rates everywhere; basically, no neighborhood is immune from crime. If you leave for work every day with a knot in your stomach worrying about family safety and home security, it is time to go online and order a CCTV security system from DreamstarDirect.com.

CCTV security systems are also a good way to watch what happens with your family while you are out. We have seen news report footage showing nannies abusing their charges; these images came about because those homes were equipped with CCTV. It is hard to go to work leaving small children at home in the care of a sitter; CCTV is a great way to make sure your children are well treated and safe in the hands of their caretaker.

A real example of what a CCTV security system can do for you is the case of the woman who had a CCTV home security system installed so she could watch what was going on at home with her pet while she was at work. She logged on only to find a burglar, not her pet strolling around the living room. She called police and the culprit was apprehended before he even knew he was being watched. What a great outcome!

DreamstarDirect.com features many fine home security system options to make your home more secure. Your CCTV system will enable you to constantly monitor your home while you are gone; you will relax at home knowing that your CCTV is on duty.

The first humans to settle in Maryland were Paleo-Indians who arrived more than 10,000 years ago from other parts of North America to hunt mammoth, great bison and caribou. By 1000 B.C., Maryland was home to more than 8,000 Native Americans representing nearly 40 different tribes.

The first European to visit the Maryland was Giovanni da Verrazano, an Italian explorer who traveled the Chesapeake Bay in the 1500s. In 1608, Captain John Smith arrived from England, and in 1631 William Claiborne established a fur trading post on Kent Island, the first English settlement in the upper Chesapeake.

But Maryland’s roots as a recognized colony date to the days of King Charles I, who promised George Calvert, the first Lord Baltimore, a colony north of Virginia. Before he set eyes on the land, George Calvert died; his son, Cecilus, became the second Lord Baltimore and spearheaded efforts to settle the colony.

He named the land "Terra Maria," or "Maryland," in honor of Charles’ wife, Queen Henrietta Maria, and sent his younger brother Leonard to lead 140 colonists to the area and serve as their first governor. The group arrived at St. Clement’s Island on March 25, 1634, and established Maryland’s first capital at St. Mary’s City. There it remained until 1695, when it was moved to Annapolis.

Since those early days, Maryland has played important roles in every aspect of American history. For example:

Annapolis, Maryland served not only as the state’s capital, but also as the capital of the 13 original colonies from November 1783 to August 1784.

In 1788, Maryland was the seventh state to ratify the U.S. Constitution.

During the War of 1812, Francis Scott Key witnessed the bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore and was inspired to pen the words to a poem entitled "The Star-Spangled Banner," which eventually became the national anthem.

On September 17, 1862, Antietam National Battlefield in the western reaches of Maryland was the site of the bloodiest single day of battle during the Civil War.

More on Maryland coming soon.
